“Self-control is strength. Right thought is mastery. Calmness is power.”
~ James Allen
Self-Control: The thinking skill that helps you to learn to control your feelings and behaviors in order to make good decisions.
Self-control is a life skill that each of you need to define, practice and use. Using self-control can help you feel good about yourself. We each have to use self-control during daily situations. We raise our hands and wait our turn to speak, we stay focused on our school work, we keep our hands to ourselves, clean our rooms, tell the truth and always try our best. Self-control is a vital part of our well-being. It allows us to make good decisions by regulating our feelings, frustrations and reactions. This thinking skill also helps us avoid inappropriate behavior and impulsive actions. It helps us learn how to plan out, consider, and display appropriate behaviors.
Ask yourself…..
- What is a way you show good self-control skills?
- What is an example of good self-control in martial arts?
- Do you know how to control your impulses?
